About Catherine: I have been writing frugal tips since 1982, when I was a young divorced mom of two - for my baby product company, Born to Love. I am now mom to three sons, who are all grown up - and re-married to a wonderful man. We have rescued two little dogs, Denny and Dexter - and Bella, the cat.

Sure, I won't carry a knife... I'll carry two or three. Why? Because I don't use them as weapons, I use them as tools. Specifically for and as tools. What if I have to open a package? Must I go looking all over the house for an object to open it? Might as well pull something out of your pocket and be done with it in less than 5 seconds, rather than take 10-15 mins or more finding something that could easily have been in your pocket the whole time.
