Free Fuel Economy Guide (ALL)
Get a Free 2011 Fuel Efficiency Guide from the EERE (Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department of the U.S.)
If you are in the US you can order a copy to be mailed to you. For everyone else, you can read online or download the book.
The annual fuel cost estimates in the 2008–2012 electronic fuel economy guides are updated weekly to match EIA's current national average prices for gasoline and diesel fuel.
I tried out their fuel cost calculator:
My little 1990 Suzuki Sidekick 4W HardTop gets 21 city, 23 HWY, uses 0.5 barrels/year (1 barrel=42 gallons) and has a carbon footprint of 0.3 - I only drive to the grocery store and back mostly once or twice a week.
My husband's 2005 Toyota Camry gets 21 city, 31 HWY, uses 6.9 barrels/year and has a carbon footprint of 3.8 - my husbands drives to work each day, and we use this car most of the time, and for any highway driving.
How does your car do?
