St James' Palace confirmed the couple has commuted to an undisclosed destination in Britain to an event to mark this momentous day in their life. Source

- Elias Howe, who invented the sewing machine, received a patent in 1851 for an "Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure". Forty-two years later, Whitcomb Judson, who invented the pneumatic street railway, marketed a "Clasp Locker". After his wife's death in 1911, Gideon Sundbäck devoted himself to the worktable, and by December 1913 had designed the modern zipper. Source

James Cook: The Pacific Coast and BeyondJames Cook lands at Botany Bay
- The first voyage of James Cook was a combined Royal Navy and Royal Society expedition to the south Pacific ocean aboard HMS Endeavour, from 1768 to 1771. The aims of the expedition were to observe the 1769 transit of Venus across the Sun (3–4 June of that year), and to seek evidence of the postulated Terra Australis Incognita or "unknown southern land". In April 1770, they became the first Europeans to reach the east coast of Australia, making landfall on the shore of what is now known as Botany Bay. Source
