Bring Your Teddy Bear to School Day
- Think about your bear sitting at home alone and bored all day. Wouldn't you like to give your bear a day to remember?

pixelRead: Much Loved
-- Award-winning photographer Mark Nixon has created a trove of quirky and nostalgic portraits of teddy bears and other stuffed animals that have been lovingly abused after years of play. Much Loved collects 60 of these images along with their accompanying background tales. An exhibit in the photographer's studio led to a small sensation on the Internet when a few of the pictures circulated unofficially on scores of blogs and on many legitimate news sites.

Viewers have been intrigued by the funny, bittersweet images and their ironic juxtaposition of childhood innocence and aged, loving wear and tear. When you see these teddy bears and bunnies with missing noses and undone stuffing, you can't help but think back to childhood and its earliest companions who asked for nothing and gave a lot back.

It's My Party Day
- What a great opportunity to have some fun. It's a party day. You can make it simple, or elaborate. Invite family and friends. Being mid-October, a Fall or Halloween theme is in order.

Emergency Nurses Day
- salutes the dedication and commitment of emergency nursing professionals, who bring care, comfort, and compassion to patients.

Eleanor Roosevelt's Birthday
- Eleanor Roosevelt began life as a shy, awkward, love-starved child and ended up ' at least in the opinion of Time Magazine ' as one of the 100 greatest leaders and revolutionaries of the 20th century. Her birthday, on October 11, is a good excuse to get better acquainted with this precedent-breaking first lady.

National Sausage Pizza Day
- Preparing pizza at home is the perfect way to get the kids involved in the kitchen . Add sausage to the mix and they’re sure to roll up their sleeves to help prepare a delicious meal the whole family can enjoy together!

General Pulaski Memorial Day
- in honor of General Kazimierz Pułaski (spelled Casimir Pulaski in English), a Polish hero of the American Revolution. This holiday is held every year on October 11 by Presidential Proclamation, to commemorate his death from wounds suffered at the Siege of Savannah on October 9, 1779 and to honor the heritage of Polish Americans.

National Coming Out Day
- an internationally-observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) issues.

International Top Spinning Day
- According to the Spinning Top and Yo Yo Museum in Burlington, Wisconson, tops are found in virtually every culture. What can kids learn from playing with tops? Prinicples of physics, art (optical illusions) and math. Go give your top a spin!
