You want to be organized, but you’re not about to Marie Kondo your entire house on a Saturday afternoon. Don’t worry—there’s a lazy way to do everything, including staying on top of life.
Here are 10 hilariously simple ways to kind of stay organized without breaking a sweat.
1. Baskets Everywhere π§Ί
Can’t put things away? Toss them in a basket! One for shoes, one for snacks, one for “random junk I’ll deal with later but probably never will.” It’s like the illusion of tidiness—no one needs to know what’s inside.
2. The Sticky Note System π️
Write reminders on sticky notes and slap them on the fridge, the bathroom mirror, or even your forehead. Sure, it looks chaotic, but at least you won’t forget to buy milk.
3. Drawer of Doom πͺ
Instead of cluttering every surface, designate one “junk drawer” to absorb all the chaos. When it’s full, close it firmly and pretend it doesn’t exist. Out of sight, out of mind.
4. Label Everything (Badly) π·️
Slap a label on anything that doesn’t move: “Cords,” “Pens,” “Mystery Box of Who Knows What.” Even if it’s wrong, it looks like you’re organized, which is basically the same thing.
5. The Floor Filing System π
Why bother with filing cabinets when you can just create “organized piles” on the floor? Bonus points if you use fancy terms like “horizontal storage.”
6. Digital Chaos Containment π±
Too many emails? Mark them all as “read” and call it a day. For apps, shove everything into one folder called “Stuff.” It’s not perfect, but neither are you.
7. Rotate the Mess π
When one room gets too messy, just move the clutter to a different one. Your house stays half-clean, and you get a fresh start in the room you just evacuated.
8. Color-Coding for the Overachiever π¨
If you’re feeling fancy, pick a color for each category of your life (e.g., blue = bills, red = “things I’ll forget anyway”). Then throw everything into matching folders and pat yourself on the back.
9. “Clean” by Moving Stuff 3 Feet π§Ή
Got a messy table? Transfer everything to the nearest counter. Messy counter? Move it to the table. Boom. Instant tidiness without actually doing anything.
10. The 2-Minute Fake Tidy π
When someone’s coming over, grab a laundry basket and sweep all the clutter into it. Hide it in a closet and hope no one opens the door. You’ve just turned chaos into calm in record time.
✨ Pro Tip: Organization isn’t about perfection—it’s about convincing yourself (and maybe others) that you’ve got it together. If you can fake it, you’ve already made it. π
What’s your favorite lazy organization hack? Drop it below and let’s celebrate minimal effort! π

Dahlia’s Oatmeal Overload
What’s your go-to pantry staple?
For Dahlia, it’s oatmeal. “Somehow, I ended up with three opened bags of oats, each one shoved behind pasta or rice. I’m basically one bad move away from a pantry landslide!” She recently started using clear, stackable containers to avoid oat chaos—and now she might even try organizing her spices (but let’s not get too ambitious).

Leroy’s Holiday Rescue Mission
-- For Leroy, it’s a glittery, uneven mess of an ornament his niece made when she was five. “It’s held together by popsicle sticks and hope,” he says, “but it’s a family treasure.” After almost losing it in a sea of tangled tinsel one year, Leroy started using proper storage trays. He says it’s now easier to find his favorites—and his niece loves seeing her masterpiece displayed each year.

There was a time we used old milk crates to hold up a beautiful wooden table top we found in the garbage - to make a coffee table.
It looked great, though it felt a bit cheesy...
However, these really do look cute and would make a great addition to the playroom - or even classroom! They are seats - made out of milk or file crates.
You just make a cushion
(out of plywood, foam, and fabric - staple or hot glue gun in place) to place on the crate.
For little children, you could place the cushion on the open top of the crate, and use the inside of the crate for storage.
For an older child or teen, you need to put the cushion on the bottom side of the crate, and use the crate with the open side down.
Using a vinyl tablecloth for your seat covering fabric would make your seat easy to clean - and great for outdoor use!

Did you know if you wrap your celery in
foil wrap before putting it in your refrigerator, it could last for up to 5 weeks?
It will still be fresh and crisp when you pull it out!
This also works for stored broccoli for up to seven weeks wrapped in foil wrap, and even heads of lettuce for up to six weeks!
No need to cut it up, you can store it still all attached, just like it came home from the store.
Just rinse and shake dry. Then wrap tightly in the foil wrap.

If you have kids or pets
(or a wild partying family member!) - you might really appreciate this tip!
Before I did the following, I would use paper towels to remove as much as possible.
From
howtocleanthings.com:
Ingredients:
Table salt, white vinegar, dish/laundry detergent, rubbing alcohol, warm water and a sponge.
1. Grab a mixing bowl, pour 2 cups of warm
(not hot) water in it, and stir in 1 tbsp of table salt.
2. Once the salt is dissolved, mix in ½ cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp clear dish or laundry detergent, and 2 tbsp rubbing alcohol
3. Now grab a clean kitchen sponge, dip it in your vomit cleaner, and press it into the vomit.
4. Do this several times so there is cleaner all over the stain. Grab a new old towel and blot just like before. This will be repeated as often as necessary until no more vomit is being transferred to the towel.
5. Each time you blot with the towel, you will be removing vomit. Have an extra towel or two on hand.

If I had still had little ones at home, I would do this one in minute! I even have a spring loaded bar and shower rings on hand, not being used for anything else.
Place a spring-loaded shower rod (Levolor Shower Tension Rod) against the back wall of your tub, with wire baskets (Schulte Large Simple Basket or United Solutions Plastic Storage Baskets) hanging on Shower Curtain Rings to organize all those bath toys.
I think any sort of basket would work, either wire or plastic baskets.
When company comes over, just move the rod to the top of the shower to get it out of the way.
Hmm... I wonder what you could store there if there were no little ones in the house? Reading material? Candles? cleaning supplies?
So, who is going to try this one?

Have you ever made
Jello Worms?
It's really easy to make, you just need Jello and flexible straws! If you can make Jello, then you can make these cool looking worms.
Pack your straws tightly together in a cup, and use a rubber band to hold them all together. Pour in the Jello, carefully. Put it into the fridge to set overnight.
Once the Jello is set, you can rinse with warm water to release the
"worms"! Running warm water for just a second works great. Submerging the straw is not a good idea!

Then I found this recipe - it might work better than just plain Jello:
Ingredients
2 packs (3 oz) Raspberry or Strawberry jello
1 pkg unflavored gelatin
(for extra firmness)
3/4 cup whipping cream
3 cups boiling water
15 drops green food coloring
100 flexible straws
(or enough to fill your container)
Tall container
(1 quart or 1 liter carton of milk)

I've been thinking a lot about cords lately - iPhone cords, camera cords, cell phone cords, camcorder cords, etc! I am working on a filing system for them that I hopefully will post about in a few days.
And all those cords under my computer desk at my feet! For the computer, the monitor, the speakers, the printer, the modem, the external hard-drive, the phone, the lamp!
How many times has something stopped working - and it's because I got caught of the cord and moved it just enough that the connection wasn't there!
So I love this idea for corralling your cords up out of the way. I have got to grab one of these baskets at the dollar store and get this set up for my desk!
How to Contain Your Computer Cords
When attached to the underside of a desk with cup hooks, a plastic coated wire kitchen basket is perfect for corralling cords. If your surge protector plug is too large to fit between the wires, simply cut out a wire or two.

Do you have a lot of scarfs and no place to put them? I really like this tip, and I don't even have a lot of scarves!
For a better way to organize your scarves, make yourself a scarf hanger using shower rings.
This will save on storage space in your drawers and in the closet and makes the scarves all easy to see and find!
I bet you could use this for other things - like belts, purses, ties! Anyone getting any other ideas?
TIP: You could use a plastic hanger, but a wooden hanger would be sturdier.
