When my boys were little, they took the wooden board bases off their beds and colored all over them, making roads for their cars, coloring in trees and buildings.
No, I didn't give them permission, they did it while I thought they were sleeping.
All these years later, they are a conversation piece - we use the boards to make a bigger table at Thanksgiving.
So when I saw this road tape, I was reminded of that - and how much the boys would have loved this tape - especially my middle son - who lived for tape!!

If using the
Dashed-Line Roadpattern for Matchbox cars or LEGO cars on a surface you want to later remove it from, please test it out first on an inconspicuous part of the surface and leave it on a few days to make sure you can remove it with adhesive cleaner and a strong bristle brush first as desired.
Of course, you could always just buy regular duct tape at the Dollar Store, and simply add in the road markings with a marker and add in your own Hot Wheels cars.

Rub with the side of the chalk (evenly and lightly will do it) all over the board - and then erase it using a regular felt chalkboard eraser, DRY paper towel, or similar.
This makes chalkboards
takethe chalk much more smoothly. You may have to repeat this step one more time, but after this, you will find that the chalkboard paper does in fact work JUST LIKE a REAL CHALKBOARD!!

Summer is almost over, and there is a chill in the air, so it's not hard to think of the cold season coming soon. And with it - coughs, colds and sore throats. My suggestion is to get some chewable vitamin C and take several a day!
Preparing for Winter...Sore throat syrup.
Mix together honey, lemons, and ginger. You can leave the lemon rind on.
How Much? Do it in layers.... a layer of sliced lemon, cover with honey, another layer of lemon, cover with honey. That should give you the right proportions.
Ginger: For strong flavor, add one thin slice of ginger to 5 slices of lemon. For not as strong, use a 1/10 ratio.
How Long? Let sit for about 48 hours in your fridge. The longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.
Storage: Store in your fridge, and it will keep forever.
To Use: Spoon into hot water for a
teato soothe throat.
Or take a spoonful right from the jar for a sore throat!
This would make a lovely gift - for holidays, or for a sick friend!

Tip (and mini craft project) of the day: prevent accidental unbuckling of your child's car seat!
If your child's car seat is installed with a seat belt, chances are a well-meaning back seat passenger (grandma, your 6-year-old in her booster, perhaps even you!) accidentally unbuckled the seat belt holding the baby's car seat instead of your own seat belt.
See how you can use a Solo disposable plastic or paper cup to prevent these accidents (but still allow access to the buckle in case of emergency).
P.S. To those who want to cover the buckle with tape, please don't - it just makes a sticky mess and can interfere with proper use of the seat belt in the future.
NOTE: Some cheap plastic cups crack very easily and actually present a hazard to your little one's fingers, should they play with it.
I suggest instead using a paper cup or even the silicone cupcake liners. If you would like something commercially made, Amazon has a list of Buckle Guards
The Car Seat Lady posted: The cups I use are the Solo cups which are quite heavy duty (same company makes the big red cups so often used for beer) - and have not had issues with them cracking. The cup I used is not a choking hazard (I'm a pediatrician, and am very aware of the dangers of choking hazards). I'd much rather a child's finger gets cut (which it won't the way I have designed this cup cover) than a child dies because the parent didn't realize the car seat had been accidentally unbuckled.

But if not, here is how to make your razor last longer. Simply pour a little bit of baby oil on the blades before you shave.
You can also shave with baby oil, rather than using shaving cream, for a smoother (and closer) shave!
I like to put some baby oil on my legs after I shave, for a smoother, more comfortable feel.

Homemade Carpet Powder
-- Mix baking soda and several drops orange essential oil (or any other essential oil you like) together in a bowl using a whisk.
Spoon the mixture into your shaker - an empty Parmesan container works well.
Sprinkle this on your carpets - let sit for about 15 minutes, then vacuum.

One reader wrote: If you add a cup of borax to this mixture it will kill any bugs that may be in your carpet! (fleas, etc!)
Another said: We had luck getting rid of fleas using salt. Allow to sit in carpet overnight and for best results, treat a couple times. Seems much safer than borax!

I used to have tons of beautiful plants all over my house - but lately, I have been forgetting to water them often enough. So this tip just might help! Indoors or out!
It helps to keep your plants watered during those long hot spells, or while you are away on trips. Or even if you are like me, and just forget to water your plants regularly!
This works best when you add the plastic bottle as you fill up a new planter pot or transplant your current plants. All you need is an empty plastic bottle about the same height as your planter pot - so a single serving size bottle for small pots and a 2 litre size bottle for large pots. If you don't have the right size bottle, you can just cut it down to fit.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Using a craft knife, cut the bottom off your plastic bottle. The bottle should be no taller than the distance from the bottom of the planter pot to the top of the soil line. Remove the bottle cap.
2. Fill your planter pot up partially with soil, and then place the empty bottle, upside down, in the center of your planter pot. Add more soil around the sides so that the plastic bottle stands up, up to the edge of the cut bottle.
3. Add your new plants around the plastic bottle evenly.
4. Water the top of the soil, then fill up the bottle with water. It will slowly trickle down to the deep roots of your plants.
As the plants grow, the bottle opening will become harder to see, but you will still be able to easily fill it up as needed.

Do you like commercial air fresheners? I can't stand most of them, I can't get past the chemical scent - though I know it doesn't bother most people.
But they can be expensive!
This one sounds nice though - and you could use your favourite scent!
You could even make a bunch of them and have a different scent for each day!
Make your own room air freshener
-- Pour baking soda into container, about 1/4 full.
-- Pour in 8-ish drops of essential oils.
-- Every once in awhile, go shake it so everything mixes and freshens the stinky smells.
-- Done!

Have you ever wondered, while enjoying that bag of chips - how you could recycle the bag? No? Probably not. LOL
But here is an idea anyhow - turn it inside out to the shiny side to use it as a gift bag!
TO USE: Turn your chip bag inside out, wash it with dish soap to get rid of any grease. Dry it out.
Then reuse the silvery or white side as a mylar-style gift bag, attaching some pretty ribbon.
You could reuse these bags over and over.
