Who says binge-watching your favorite show and staying active can't go hand in hand?

Whether you're catching up on your favorite sitcom, cheering through the big game, or watching the latest streaming series, it's easy to fit a little extra movement into your day.

These simple exercises require little or no equipment and can help break up long periods of sitting, all without missing your favorite scenes.

1. Couch Squats

Stand up from the couch, squat, then sit back down with control. Repeat during commercial breaks or between episodes to give your legs a little extra work.

2. Plank It Out

Hold a plank for as long as you're comfortable during a commercial break or a suspenseful scene. Even 15 to 30 seconds counts!

3. Seated Leg Lifts

Stay seated and lift your legs one at a time. Bonus: Add ankle weights for more challenge. Multitasking at its finest!

4. Triceps Dips on the Edge of Your Couch

Use the couch or a sturdy chair for support, then lower yourself down and back up to tone those arms. Use a sturdy chair or couch that won't slide as you lower yourself and press back up.

Looking for an easy way to stay active while watching TV? These products can help you add a little extra movement to your daily routine without leaving the living room.

Teri says: I bought the WalkingPad because I wanted an easier way to be more active without having to rearrange my whole day. Now I unfold it while I'm watching TV or catching up on YouTube, and before I know it, I've walked a couple of miles without feeling like I was "working out."

One of my favorite features is how compact it is. When I'm finished, it folds up and slides out of the way, so it doesn't take over the room. It's quiet enough that I can still hear the TV, and the simple controls make it easy to hop on whenever I have a few spare minutes.

If you've been looking for a convenient way to add more movement to your day without going to the gym, the WalkingPad has been a great addition to my routine.

5. Remote Control Twists

Sit or stand and gently twist your torso from side to side to loosen up after sitting for a while.

6. March in Place

Keep the blood flowing by marching in place. Add some flair with exaggerated arm movements. Get that heart rate up while watching your favorite sitcom.

7. Pillow Squeezes

Grab a pillow, place it between your knees, and squeeze it repeatedly. Hold each squeeze for a few seconds before relaxing.  It’s like Pilates, but way cozier.

8. Shadow Boxing

Throw a few light jabs, hooks, and uppercuts during the action scenes to get your arms moving and your heart rate up. Who cares if you’re shadowboxing to a cooking show?

9. Side Leg Lifts

Stand next to the couch and lift one leg out to the side. Swap legs and repeat. Perfect for a superhero movie marathon.

10. The Recliner Stretch

Use your recliner or couch armrest for stretching out your legs, back, or arms. Stretching every so often can help reduce stiffness after sitting for long periods.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: Set a reminder to stand up and move for two to five minutes every 30 to 60 minutes. Those small movement breaks can really add up over the course of the day.

πŸ’¬ Do you move around during TV time, or do you save your workouts for another part of the day? We'd love to hear your favorite way to stay active!

Looking for an easy way to stay active while watching TV? These products can help you add a little extra movement to your daily routine without leaving the living room.

Tom says: I honestly didn't expect much when I ordered my LifePro Vibration Plate, but it's become one of my favorite purchases. I started using it for about 10 minutes a day while watching TV, and it made it so much easier to fit a little extra movement into my routine. I especially like that it's low-impact, and I feel steadier and more active on the days I use it.

What I love most is how simple it is. I just step on, choose a speed, and let it run while I'm catching up on my favorite shows. It's compact, easy to use, and doesn't feel like a chore. If you're looking for an easy way to stay a little more active at home, the LifePro Vibration Plate has been a great addition to my daily routine.

Image: 10 Easy Ways to Lose Weight Without Trying

Losing weight doesn’t have to mean strict diets and hours at the gym.
Try these low-effort strategies that sneak fitness into your daily life!

1. Dance Like No One’s Watching πŸ•Ί

Crank up the music while cleaning and turn your chores into a dance party!

2. Hydrate Wisely πŸ₯€

Drink a glass of water before meals to fill up faster. Bonus: Water has zero calories!

3. Take the Long Route 🚢

Park at the farthest spot or take the stairs instead of the elevator. Small steps, big wins.

4. Play with Your Pet πŸ•

A game of fetch or a backyard chase will burn calories for both you and your furry friend.

5. Laugh Often πŸ˜‚

Laughter isn’t just fun—it burns calories, too! Gather your favorite comedies and chuckle away.

6. Use Everyday Objects as Weights πŸ‹️

Groceries, laundry baskets, or even a heavy book can double as impromptu workout gear.

7. Skip the Drive-Thru 🚴

Walk or bike for short errands instead of driving. You’ll burn calories and save gas money.

8. Snack Smarter πŸ₯’

Swap chips for carrot sticks or fruit. They’re just as munch-worthy and way healthier.

9. Stand Up and Stretch πŸ“

Set a timer to get up every hour, stretch, and move. Sitting is the new smoking, so keep your body in motion.

10. Sleep Like a Pro πŸ›️

Good sleep helps regulate hunger hormones, so snooze away those cravings!

Pro Tip: Fun and movement are key—find what makes you smile while you shed those pounds. It’s not about trying harder, it’s about trying smarter!

(Psst… Check out the illustration above for a little extra inspiration!)

Mia and the Accidental Polar Club

Mia never thought she’d *voluntarily* sit in a tub of freezing water. “My brother convinced me that cold plunges are some magical ‘wellness hack.’ I was skeptical, but after a long week of wrangling kids and stress, I figured… what’s the worst that could happen? Fast-forward to me sitting in a giant inflatable tub in my backyard, wearing a hoodie, yelling, ‘I CAN’T FEEL MY LEGS!’ My kids think it’s hilarious. But here’s the kicker—afterwards, I felt ridiculously calm and energized. Now they call me the family polar bear.”

So, would you brave the freeze for a clear mind? Or stick with bubble baths?

Image: Preparing for Winter...Summer is almost over, and there is a chill in the air, so it's not hard to think of the cold season coming soon. And with it - coughs, colds and sore throats.

My suggestion is to get some chewable vitamin C and take several a day!

Preparing for Winter...Sore throat syrup.
Mix together honey, lemons, and ginger. You can leave the lemon rind on.

How Much? Do it in layers.... a layer of sliced lemon, cover with honey, another layer of lemon, cover with honey. That should give you the right proportions.

Ginger: For strong flavor, add one thin slice of ginger to 5 slices of lemon. For not as strong, use a 1/10 ratio.

How Long? Let sit for about 48 hours in your fridge. The longer it sits, the more flavorful it will become.

Storage: Store in your fridge, and it will keep forever.

To Use: Spoon into hot water for a tea to soothe throat.

Or take a spoonful right from the jar for a sore throat!

This would make a lovely gift - for holidays, or for a sick friend!

Bruce Beaty posted: I use whiskey, lemon juice, salt and honey for a cough. For a sore throat, I gargle with very warm water, salt, and iodine followed by a shot of said cough syrup.

Philip E. McRae posted: Peppermint, honey, lemon juice and whiskey works too! Long peppermint sticks, 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup lemon juice in a pint jar and fill to the top with any brand of whiskey. Keep refrigerated until all the peppermint is melted. Stir well and take a tablespoon full at a time, or a big gulp!

Do you get the flu shot every year? Well now you can get a freebie for doing so!

If you have health insurance, your flu shot is more than likely 100% covered — so you could just head to your primary care physician’s office and get it there.

But retailers are getting creative to encourage more customers to come to their store to get flu shots.

OK, does it bother anyone that now they are paying you to get your flu shot?

No? Then grab your freebie!

How Can They afford to Do this? Flu vaccinations are very profitable for both drug makers and drugstores. Plus an increase in flu shot customers, means an increase in shoppers, who are especially likely to browse the aisles and buy stuff when they are given a coupon for discounted merchandise.

 • Publix Pharmacy: Free $10 gift card with a flu vaccination

 • Target: Free $5 coupon with flu shot at CVS pharmacy or MinuteClinic locations.

 • CVS Pharmacy: Freestanding CVS locations offer shoppers 20% off up to $50 worth of non-pharmacy purchases when they get their flu shots.

 • Jewl-Osco Pharmacy: Save 10% on your next shopping purchase when you get a flu shot.

 • Safeway and Albertson's: Get 10% off your grocery bill when you come in to get a flu shot.

 • Giant Food store: Get a $30 coupon savings book.

Or help others!

 • Kroger/Mariano's Pharmacy: Get a shot at their pharmacy and Kroger will donate $0.09 to Feeding America. $1.00 helps provide 11 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of its member food banks.

 • Walgreen's: For every immunization administered, Walgreens will donate $0.22 to the United Nations Foundation, up to a maximum donation of $2,000,000.

NOTE: Just sharing this info - not saying you should get the flu shot. My son and grandson had violent reactions to shots, and both their doctor and the Ministry of Health agree they should no longer be vaccinated.
You have your thoughts about vaccines and your family. I have mine.
