If you’ve ever used one of those scratchy scrubs that left your skin red instead of radiant, you’re not alone. That’s why the exfoliating glove is a total game-changer.

Inspired by Korean and Turkish spa traditions, these lightweight mitts gently slough off dead skin, revealing smoother, healthier skin underneath.

And the best part? You only need to use them 2–3 times per month for visible results.

Here’s exactly how to use your exfoliating glove like a pro (without overdoing it!):

Step 1: Soften Your Skin
Hop into the shower or bath and let the warm water do its thing for at least 10–15 minutes. The goal? To soften your skin so it’s ready for exfoliation. (Tip: Don’t use soap yet!)

Step 2: Ditch the Soap (for now)
Avoid using soap or body wash before exfoliating. Cleaners can create a slippery surface, making the glove less effective. Natural skin oils help the mitt grip and remove dead skin more efficiently.

Step 3: Glide, Don’t Scrub
Put on the damp glove and gently rub your skin in long, upward strokes. You don’t need to scrub hard—let the texture of the glove do the work. Focus on rough areas like elbows, knees, and heels.

Step 4: Rinse and Reveal
Rinse your skin with warm water and watch the glow appear. You may see visible dead skin rolls (yes, it’s oddly satisfying). That means it’s working!

Step 5: Hydrate and Lock It In
After rinsing, gently pat dry and apply a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer to soothe and hydrate your skin. Your skin is now prepped to absorb all that goodness.

How Often Should You Use It?
Two to three times per month is perfect. Over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier, so don’t go overboard. Trust the process and enjoy the glow.

Pro Tip: Always clean and air dry your glove after use to keep it hygienic and ready for your next self-care session.

The Bottom Line: If your skin’s been feeling dull, bumpy, or just not its best, this glove is your new go-to. It’s simple, affordable, and a serious upgrade to your shower routine.

The Great Lint Adventure

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever found while cleaning? (Lena once discovered a long-lost earring inside her couch—after blaming her cat for months!)

Tom decided to tackle his dryer vents after seeing a ‘scary lint buildup’ warning online. He pulled out his cleaning kit and got to work, fully expecting it to be quick and uneventful. Nope. Not only did he pull out enough lint to stuff a small pillow, but he also discovered a missing sock and, hilariously, his daughter’s plastic dinosaur. Now, Tom jokes that his dryer vent is the house’s lost-and-found—and he’s weirdly proud of how smoothly his dryer runs now.

 Helen’s Sticky Situation

-- Helen laughed as he recounted his toddler’s masterpiece: “My kid decided to ‘paint’ the table with syrup. I panicked until I grabbed one of those Swedish dishcloths I’d been meaning to try. Honestly, I didn’t think it could handle the sticky chaos, but it wiped everything clean like magic. Now I’ve got them stashed everywhere—kitchen, bathroom, you name it.”

Where do I even start when it comes to homeownership? It’s such a great responsibility, it’s exciting, it’s wonderful, but it’s also a lot of responsibility. But you shouldn’t worry, we’ve got some great tips that’ll keep your home in the best shape without draining your wallet of every cent you have.

Via Pexels

Embrace Preventative Maintenance

First on the list: let’s talk about preventative maintenance because honestly, a little TLC goes a long way. Think about it—those gutters won’t clear themselves, and neither will that lint trap in your dryer. So, why not stay ahead of the game? Regular check-ups can save you a fortune down the line, keeping things like water damage and inefficiency just a bad dream.

Optimize Your Home’s Energy Use

Upgrading to energy-efficient appliances might pinch at first, but oh, the monthly savings you’ll see will be huge! Sealing drafts and maybe throwing in a smart thermostat? Now you’re not just saving money; you’re crafting a snug, efficient home. It’s all about smarter, not harder, right?

Be The Master Of DIY Repairs

Okay, so DIY repairs can be a real wallet-saver and, honestly, quite fun. YouTube and a bit of elbow grease can turn you into the handy hero of your own home. Just remember, there’s a fine line between hero and zero. When it’s serious, call in the professionals. Better safe than sorry (and more expensive).

Invest In Quality Where It Counts

Here’s where being picky really and truly pays off. Invest in top-notch materials for the big-ticket items—roof, foundation, windows. Yes, it’s pricier upfront, but it dodges those annoying frequent fixes. It’s all about VIP treatment for your home, because your home deserves the best, right?

Regularly Review And Optimize Home Insurance

Home insurance isn’t just a necessary evil—it’s a savvy homeowner’s best tool. Look into your policy once a year to make sure you’re not over-covered or overpaying. And hey, boosting your deductible might just lower those premiums. Which is basically like giving your future self a big ol’ high-five.

Sustainable Practices That Cut Costs

Sustainability is the gift that just keeps on giving. Installing solar panels or starting a rainwater collection system might seem like big moves, but the impact on your bills (and the planet) is huge. And these green upgrades? They’re super USPs when you want to sell your home.

Maintain And Monitor Household Systems

Now, don’t forget the little things like your dryer heating element. It might seem trivial, but a well-maintained dryer is more than just a laundry lifesaver—it’s a penny-pincher. Keeping that element and other small components in the rest of your appliances in check means fewer breakdowns and more money for, well, anything else.

Plan For Long-Term Expenses

Setting aside a little money each month for home maintenance? Genius. This fund smooths out the financial ups and downs, making those inevitable repairs less of a panic and more of a plan. Planning for the future is one of the greatest investments you can make as a homeowner.

Conclusion

Keeping your home in shape doesn’t have to be a chore or a bore. With these strategies, you’re not just saving money—you’re setting up a home of efficiency and comfort. Every little bit of effort and investment you put in now is paving the way for a smoother, more delightful home life.

Did You Know? Drain-O, or any other clog busting chemical, eventually eat away at your rubber seals.

Here is a safer and cheaper drain cleaner:

I have personally used this tip in the past for clogged drains - and it really did work!

I would pour a 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda into the clogged drain, then pour in 1/2 cup of vinegar.

I would let it sit for about 20-30 minutes.

Then I would dump a pot filled with boiling water - and the drain would clear immediately!

There was a time we used old milk crates to hold up a beautiful wooden table top we found in the garbage - to make a coffee table.

It looked great, though it felt a bit cheesy...

However, these really do look cute and would make a great addition to the playroom - or even classroom! They are seats - made out of milk or file crates.

You just make a cushion (out of plywood, foam, and fabric - staple or hot glue gun in place) to place on the crate.

For little children, you could place the cushion on the open top of the crate, and use the inside of the crate for storage.

For an older child or teen, you need to put the cushion on the bottom side of the crate, and use the crate with the open side down.

Using a vinyl tablecloth for your seat covering fabric would make your seat easy to clean - and great for outdoor use!

The BEST soap scum remover!!

Make a vinegar gel by thickening vinegar with cornstarch.

The vinegar CLINGS to whatever you spray it on... giving it more time to work.

A little detergent will help to cut grease.

Heat one cup of vinegar and one tablespoon of corn starch in the microwave for 2 minutes.

(Watch it because it can overflow if your container is not big enough.)

Add 2 tablespoons of liquid dish detergent (Dawn works great, but any dish detergent will do) and put it in a spray bottle.

Spray on your bathroom sink, shower or bathtub.

Let it sit for about an hour. (Or overnight if the soap scum is really bad.)

Wipe. Rinse. You're done!

I have to admit it - I was too lazy to make the liquid version of home-made laundry soap.

But this one looks much easier to make!

DIY Laundry Detergent
-- Uses only 4 ingredients (six ingredients if you add the optional OxyClean and fabric softener),
-- Ingredients will cost you about $28 a year.
-- This recipe will make a batch that will last you a whole year!

• 1 (4 lb 12 oz) Box of Borax
• 1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm + Hammer Super Washing Soda
• 2 (14.1 oz) Bars of Zote Soap or Fels Naptha or Ivory Soap, grated
• 2 (2 lb) Boxes of Arm + Hammer Baking Soda

Optional:
• 1 (3 lb) Container of OxyClean
• 1-2 (55 oz) Bottle of Purex Crystals Fabric Softener

She says you only need 1-2 Tablespoons per load depending on the size of your laundry load - and that it works in HE washers too!

Mesh Lingerie Delicates Wash Bag
Get ready to say thank you! In fact, you might as well go ahead and thank me right now.

Because this tip is THAT good! In fact, this tip may even change your life!

OK, here goes...

Give each member of your family a mesh lingerie laundry bag and laundry hook to hang it on their doorknob.

They use it to put their dirty socks and underwear in the bag each night.

On laundry day, simply zip up the bags, and toss the full bags into the washing machine... then give it back!

If you won't be sure whose laundry bag is whose, just mark the tag inside the mesh bag with an initial, or other identifying mark - using a permanent marker - so you can tell them apart.

No more sorting through and figuring out which socks are for which person. Genius!!

OK, sorry, I am still working on the tip that convinces your family to actually PUT their laundry in this mesh bag.

Maybe just the look of pure joy on your face will be enough?? No, huh? Hmmm...

Image: Swiffer Wetjet Spray Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit | Cleans better than a mop and bucket Solution | formula loosens dirt and lifts it off the floorDo you use a Swiffer Wetjet? I've thought about them, but I am not willing to pay for the constant refills - I'm too cheap frugal for that.

So here's an idea if you want to save some money on all those refills!

1. Dunk the bottle cap in hot water for about 90 seconds to soften the plastic.

2. Twist off the cap with a good, hard twist.

3. Then clip off the little locking tabs with nail clippers (or exacto knife, or razor blade).

4. Now you have a plain old refillable bottle you can refill with your own cleaning solution - vinegar and water, Pine-sol, Nature Clean or anything else you like.

5. Replace the cap back on the bottle firmly and you're ready to clean.

The Zebra created this fantastic guide on Eco-friendly ways to clean the interior and exterior of your car.

From natural chrome cleaning mixtures to interior deodorizers, this guide covers every facet of getting your car looking good as new.

It also includes tips on how to save water and minimize waste by using newspapers and reusable towels.

Using environmentally friendly products is important because some of the most harmful chemicals come in our household cleaners.

The EPA names phosphorous, nitrogen, ammonia and chemicals known as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as the worst environmental hazards in household cleaners.

VOCs and many of the aforementioned chemicals are also found in some of the most popular car cleaning products.

By using natural cleaning products, you not only help the environment but you also save money by not spending it on unnecessary products.

My favorites are the exterior car wash and the scented air freshener.
