Who says watching your favorite show and staying active can't go hand in hand? πŸ“ΊπŸ’ͺ

These 10 easy exercises you can do while watching TV are a simple way to add more movement to your day. Whether you're catching up on a sitcom, cheering through the big game, or watching your latest streaming obsession, you can move during TV time without missing your favorite scenes.

Most require little or no equipment, and even a few minutes of movement can help break up long periods of sitting.

1. Couch Squats

Stand up from the couch, squat, then sit back down with control. Repeat during commercial breaks or between episodes to give your legs a little extra work.

2. Plank It Out

Hold a plank for as long as you're comfortable during a commercial break or a suspenseful scene. Even 15 to 30 seconds counts!

3. Seated Leg Lifts

Stay seated and lift your legs one at a time. Bonus: Add ankle weights for more challenge. Multitasking at its finest!

4. Triceps Dips on the Edge of Your Couch

Stand a comfortable distance from a wall, place your hands against it, and slowly bend and straighten your arms. It's an easy way to add some upper-body movement while keeping an eye on the TV.

Want to Walk While You Watch?

A WalkingPad is a clever option if you want to add more movement to your day without heading to the gym or finding room for a full-size treadmill. You can walk while watching TV, catching up on YouTube, or even listening to an audiobook.

What I like about this one is the foldable design. When you're finished, it folds up for easier storage instead of permanently taking over the room. That's especially handy if you're short on space.

If the idea of getting a little walking in while you're already watching TV sounds more appealing than scheduling a separate workout, this is definitely worth a look.

5. Remote Control Twists

Sit or stand and gently twist your torso from side to side to loosen up after sitting for a while.

6. March in Place

Keep the blood flowing by marching in place. Add some flair with exaggerated arm movements. Get that heart rate up while watching your favorite sitcom.

7. Pillow Squeezes

Grab a pillow, place it between your knees, and squeeze it repeatedly. Hold each squeeze for a few seconds before relaxing.  It’s like Pilates, but way cozier.

8. Shadow Boxing

Throw a few light jabs, hooks, and uppercuts during the action scenes to get your arms moving and your heart rate up. Who cares if you’re shadowboxing to a cooking show?

9. Side Leg Lifts

Stand next to the couch and lift one leg out to the side. Swap legs and repeat. Perfect for a superhero movie marathon.

10. The Recliner Stretch

Use your recliner or couch armrest for stretching out your legs, back, or arms. Stretching every so often can help reduce stiffness after sitting for long periods.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: Set a reminder to stand up and move for two to five minutes every 30 to 60 minutes. Those small movement breaks can really add up over the course of the day.

πŸ’¬ Do you move around during TV time, or do you save your workouts for another part of the day? We'd love to hear your favorite way to stay active!

Another Way to Add Movement During TV Time

If walking while watching TV isn't your thing, a LifePro Vibration Plate is another option for adding a little movement to your routine without taking over the living room.

It's compact enough to use at home, and you can simply step on, choose your settings, and use it while catching up on your favorite show. I especially like the idea of fitness equipment that doesn't require rearranging your entire day just to use it. πŸ˜‚
