-- Gorgeous Grandma Day was founded in 1984 by Alice Solomon, a radio host. After she graduated at the age of 50 from Wellesley College, she felt society viewed women her age and older as senior citizens who were no longer useful or relevant. Today we recognize the beauty of older women, whether they are actual grandmothers or not, and encourages them to embrace their age and show their beauty to the world. Modern grandmas are much more hip than their past counterparts and make up a sizeable portion of the salon and spa demographic. Today is the day to tell your Grandma just how gorgeous she really is!
