Free Kindle Book: An Eye For Murder (The Ellie Foreman Suspense Mysteries), by Libby Fischer Hellmann. Publication Date: June 25, 2012An Eye For Murder
(The Ellie Foreman Suspense Mysteries)
by Libby Fischer Hellmann

-- August, 1944, Prague is where the story begins with a seemingly casual exchange of information. But in wartime, is any act, any one thing, trivial? Decades later, in contemporary Chicago, the consequences emerge through the medium of television.

Documentary filmmaker Ellie Foreman gets a letter prompted by the success of her show "Celebrate Chicago." One viewer was the elderly Ben Sinclair. When he suddenly dies, his landlady Mrs. Fleischman finds Ellie's name among his effects and writes to her. Ellie, who hasn't a clue about a connection to Ben, is curious. And she agrees to help dispose of Ben Sinclair's possessions. She became a filmmaker to help people tell their stories. The books and wartime relics Ben left behind--will they be enough to tell his?

All too soon, Mrs. Fleischman dies. Then Ben's things are stolen from Ellie's suburban home. The single mom, working to move past her ex, doesn't know what to think. But she has to scramble for work and is soon embroiled in producing a campaign video for a steel magnate running for a Republican seat in the Illinois Senate.

Despite these distractions, Ellie stays focused on her odd link to the dead man and turns to her father, a retired lawyer with deep roots in Chicago's Jewish community, for insights into the mystery of Ben Sinclair. In time, a terrifying scenario develops that reaches back into several pasts. From the political present of the North Shore to the buried memories of the city's ethnic neighborhoods, the components of Ben's story eventually merge into an explosive climax.

Free Kindle Book: Rise of the Fallen (Andrew and the Quest of Orion's Belt), by Ivory Autumn. Publisher: Lost And Found Publishing (September 26, 2011)Rise of the Fallen
(Andrew and the Quest of Orion's Belt)
by Ivory Autumn

-- To whom it may concern, and you should all be concerned.

I told Ivory not to publish this book. But Ivory never listens to me. For being an elf with such big ears, her hearing is very bad.

So, now here we both are. You wanting to read this VERY DARK tale. And me trying to warn you of the dangers that could happen if you do. You, probably being an ordinary person and all.

No disrespect to ordinary people. I like them... or you. But, generally, ordinary people are toxic-ally attracted to things that are not so healthy for them, like candy, and old broken-down buildings full of nose hair twisters, and throat gobblers --- forgetting that they should be very afraid of dark, spooky, creepy-ish sort of places, until it's too late. Be WARNED that this book, once cracked opened, will cause the innocent lights in your bedroom to quake and shiver, and perhaps go out, leaving you in the darkness. So keep a flashlight, or a glowing, friendly, non-poisonous mushroom nearby, just in case.

Only brave individuals should dare to read this book. As for myself, I'm brave. I'm not afraid of the dark. Except for when it's dark, of course. Ahem.

Free Kindle Book: The Gunny Sack Man, by Holly Remkes. Publisher: Read it Again! Publishing; 1 edition (December 12, 2011)The Gunny Sack Man
by Holly Remkes

-- Ever tried to convince your kids they needed to clean their rooms or something awful would happen?

I've heard of everything from taking the offending toys and/or clothes and holding them for ransom (tried it myself--it didn't work very well) to tossing the clothes onto the drive way so the kids would have to pick them up on their way in from the bus after school.

I'm not sure that one worked for the frustrated mother, either.

Well, in Holly Remkes' tale of The Gunny Sack Man, we learn about two little girls who are always making messes. When their mother gets totally frustrated about their inability to keep their room clean for five minutes, she tells them about a man who comes to kids houses to check and see if their rooms are clean.

If it's a mess, he'll sneak in while they're gone and eat all of the toys and clothes on the floor. If their room is clean, he'll leave them each a treat or other present under their pillows.

When asked about her first book, Holly states her mother told her the story of The Gunny Sack Man when she was a little girl, and she has used it with her own children, finding it a great way to motivate them to take care of their own messes. The rhyming text perks the ear and cute storyline are bound to interest all of your little ones to take care of their things in record time.
